This paper surveys the problem of ascertaining the extent to which a function or measure (defined on some appropriate space) is determined by its integral over geometrically pleasant subsets (lines, planes, balls, etc.) of the space in question. Emphasis is placed on those aspects of the problem in which harmonic analysis and complex function theory play a role.
