Vibration, fatigue, and noise problems have become most important in the design of high speed machines. The use of composite materials which possess high strength-to-weight and high stiffness-to-weight ratios may improve these problems. The objective of the present work is to develop the finite element model to study the vibration behavior of planar mechanisms made from composite materials. The Timoshenko beam finite element model is used here. A comparison among the quasi-static, elastodynamic, and kineto-elastodynamic analyses is presented. The advantages of using composite materials are demonstrated.
