The multiple steady states of the nonadiabatic tubular reactor (Q1089486)

This paper discusses the two-point boundary value problem \[ (1)\quad y''-y'-\beta y+\lambda e^ y=0,\quad 0<x<1,\quad y(0)=y'(0),\quad y'(1)=0 \] with \(\lambda\),\(\beta\) positive parameters. It is shown that, under an appropriate choice of these parameters, the number of solutions of the problem (1) may be arbitrarily large.
