The author considers the linearization of the equations of compressible viscous fluid flow in a bounded region, which can be written in the form \(U_ t+AU=0\) with a linear differential operator A. This operator is shown to generate an analytic semigroup, and it is proved that the solutions of the linearized equation decay exponentially.
