A system of n units (one operating, n-1 standby) with n repair facilities is considered. The failure times of operating units, the repair times of failed units as well as the repair times of the repair facilities are assumed to be exponentially distributed. The breakdowns of the repair facilities follow a Poisson process. The investigations include the calculation of reliability measures and the formulation and solution of an optimal maintenance problem.
