In this paper, the concept of variational equivalence introduced by Henstock is used to study the relationship between generalized Denjoy integrals for functions of two variables introduced in the thirties by Kempisty and the Henstock integral, i.e. a non-absolute integral based upon Riemann sums. The main result is that the Kempisty integral is less general than Henstock integral.
