The author wishes to thank T. Wolniewicz for pointing out an error in the proof of Lemma 2.1 on page 25 of the paper mentioned in the title [ibid. 118, 21-34 (1983; Zbl 0546.32003)] and also showing that in fact the lemma is false. Unfortunately this invalidates the proof of the main theorem. The author apologizes for this error.
