The purpose of this paper is to give the definition of the degree of a mapping and to establish its properties. Moreover, we will prove the Brouwer fixed point theorem by using the result of two lemmas which are also proved in this paper. (Remark: The paper contains some misprints, especially meet and join symbols are missing.)
