    Tests are found for the stability of the biological algae-phosphorous system. A comparative analysis is given of the conditions for stability of models with concentrated (discrete collection of feedbacks) and distributed (continuous collection of feedbacks) delays. It is shown that, in the latter case, there exists a global characteristic (variance) of the family of feedbacks, which is an indicator of stability of water phytocoenoses.
