Qualitative programming for selection decisions (Q1091931)

Many selection decision problems involve qualitative information, the exclusion of which from optimization processes may lead to suboptimal (and possibly, disastrous) solutions. This paper presents an approach to selection decisions where some or all of the available information may be qualitative as well as incomplete. Appropriate mappings which accomplish this task are discussed in detail, and an example of the real-world application of this approach to software selection decisions is presented.
