The series solutions obtained for transport problems may fail to converge at the boundary if the problem involves non-homogeneities due to the boundary conditions. The authors develop a general splitting-up procedure for obtaining alternative solutions which accelerate the convergence. As an application they examine the equation of the first-order reaction in a catalyst slab.
