The author generalizes a result of \textit{I. P. Kubilius} on the rate of convergence in the central limit theorem for additive arithmetic functions [Probabilistic methods in the theory of numbers (Transl. Math. Monogr., Vol. 11, Providence 1964; Zbl 0133.302)] to additive functions defined on the set of integral ideals of an algebraic number field. As an auxiliary result he also establishes a quantitative mean value theorem for multiplicative functions of ideals.
