A theory of fluid-saturated porous media is formulated with the assumption that the skeleton is viscoelastic and has properties of the micropolar body in Cosserats' sense. The local temperature of the skeleton and the fluid was assumed to be identical. Constitutive relations were obtained from the fundamental principles of mechanics and thermodynamics, and equations of motion and heat conductivity are given. It is demonstrated that the well-known equations of micropolar thermoelasticity are a particular case of the formulated theory.
