An estimate of the projection constant by \(n^{1/2}\) of an n-dimensional normed space E, due to \textit{M. I. Kadeis} and \textit{M. G. Snobar} [Math. Notes 10(1971), 694-696 (1982; Zbl 0232.46027)] is sharpened in this paper. If the projection constant of E is close to \(n^{1/2}\), so is the 1-summing norm of the identity on E.
