The author investigates about 20 topological categories, defined by variations on and combinations of the axioms for topogeneous orders, closure spaces, proximities and screens (a new type of object: a screen is a set with a collection of filters on it). It is shown that various viewpoints give rise to the same categories. In a forthcoming part III, merotopies will be added to this haggis of definitions and interrelations.
