On transformations of nearly-poised basic hypergeometric series and their applications (Q1095288)

The authors have discussed certain special cases of a known transformation due to \textit{W. N. Bailey} [J. London Math. Soc. 22, 237-240 (1947; Zbl 0031.39201)] and a result established by one of the authors (\textit{V. K. Jain}) in his paper [Pac. J. Math. 101, 333-349 (1982; Zbl 0503.33003)]. There are misprints in the paper, even in the main transformation equations (2.1) and (2.2). Nevertheless, they have deduced a number of new q-analogues of quadratic transformations due to Whipple and Bailey which also yield summation formulae for the well-poised basic hypergeometric series \(_{10}\phi_ 9\). Different q-analogues of four known identities of Cayley-Orr type have also been obtained as application of the transformation (2.5) of this paper.
