Necessary and sufficient conditions of almost sure convergence are obtained for kernel estimates of the probability density. An iterated logarithm law is obtained for a special class of estimates that yields an exact characterization of the asymptotic rate of convergence almost surely. The obtained results are extended to estimates of the derivatives of the probability density.
