The paper proposes a method for modifying splittings \(A=M-N\) of a matrix A in order to eliminate some of the absolutely largest eigenvalues from the iteration matrix \(P=I-M^{-1}A\). This is done by applying to M low rank corrections determined from the corresponding eigenvectors. The modifications can be implemented in parallel.
