Two theorems concerning the spectral properties of certain pairs of structurally related graphs are proved. They generalize a number of previously known results which are important for the theory of the recently discovered TEMO \(=\) topological effect on molecular orbitals. TEMO is briefly outlined. For each graph-spectral result given in the present paper, an analogous statement for the matching polynomial and its zeros exists.
