We characterize some homologically determined class of rings, for example PP-rings, via functors on the module category which, in the case of PP- rings, are required to be exact on cyclic modules. We examine familiar results connecting a ring R and \(End(_ RP)\), where P is a finitely generated projective module, in the light of this characterization.
