Time-dependent convection-diffusion equations in one space variable are discretized using a Petrov-Galerkin finite element method. The presented method is first order exact and does not have a cell Reynolds number restriction. An extension to two or more dimensions is not given. Numerical results are presented showing the stability of the method.
