Translations of relational schemas (Q1097723)

We are concerned with a class of translations of relational schemas. Starting from a given relational schema, translations make it possible to obtain simpler schemas, i.e. those with a less number of attributes and with shorter functional dependencies so that the key-finding problem becomes less cumbersome, etc. On the other hand, from the set of keys of the run relational schema obtained in this way the corresponding keys of the original schema can be found by a single ``translation''.
