Results of \textit{P. Long} and \textit{D. Carnahan} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 38, 413-418 (1973; Zbl 0261.54007)], concerning almost continuous functions in the sense of Husain and almost continuous functions in the sense of Singal and Singal and results of \textit{T. Noiri} [J. Korean Math. Soc. 16, 161-166 (1980; Zbl 0435.54010)] concerning \(\delta\)-continuous functions, weakly continuous functions, and set-connected functions are strengthened using preopen sets and weakly open functions.
