The author introduces a new function for the velocity as one of the dependent variables to remove the critical point from the set of coupled differential (wind) equations describing time-independent mass outflux from a compact source with spherically symmetric flow. For the transonic flows, this technique makes the matching at the critical point, where flow velocity is equal to the sound speed, more tractable, and hence hopefully with better accuracy.
