The paper is a short exposition on a splitting theorem for certain complexes of topological vector spaces (called PO-spaces) which arise in a natural way in local complex-analytic deformation theory. Complete proofs are given in a joint book with the reviewer [``Lokale Modulräume in der analytischen Geometrie'' (1987)]. The results were partly inspired by the work of V. P. Palamodov on deformations of complex spaces.
