This is a short note on minimax approximation where one (or few) nonlinear paramters are present. This problem was first considered by J. Rice, and later by Lau, Kaufman and Taylor, and the author. The computational procedure in this paper follows the idea of \textit{I. Barrodale}, \textit{F. D. K. Roberts} and \textit{C. R.Hunt} [Computer J. 13, 382-386 (1970; Zbl 0235.65012)].
