We employ possibility and necessity in fuzzy programming and in other optimization problems that traditionally use random variables. The possibility approach to multiobjective programming produces the same results as fuzzy programming. A detailed example is presented to illustrate the use of possibility and necessity in optimization problems that usually employ random variables to describe uncertainty.
