The authors employ a general comparison method to prove the global stability of a basic model for the predator-prey system, \[ dx/dt=xg(x)- yh(x),\quad dv/dt=y(mh(x)-d). \] The forms of g(x) and h(x) are very general and cover most of the models proposed in the ecological literature. The method is quite effective and useful. The results are of universal significance including a uniqueness theorem of limit cycles for predator-prey systems obtained by the authors.
