The author investigates the structure of groups that can be obtained from generalized quadrangles using a construction due to \textit{W. M. Kantor} [J. Comb. Theory, Ser. A 29, 212-219 (1980; Zbl 0465.51007)]. He proves that if the quadrangle's parameters s and t satisfy the condition \(s\geq t\), then both of them are powers of the same prime number.
