Techniques developed by Fintushel and Stern to reprove Donaldson's theorem for definite manifolds are modified to give sufficient conditions for moduli spaces of orbifold instantons to be compact. These compactness results are then applied to the problems of characterizing normal bundles of embeddings of the real projective plane in definite manifolds, null homology cobordisms of Brieskorn varieties, and representing homology classes by embedded spheres.
