We investigate the integro-differential equation giving the shape of a steady dendrite growing from a weakly undercooled melt either in two or in three dimensions. Using a generalized WKB analysis we explicitly show that isotropic surface tension prohibits the growth of needle-crystal, introducing transcendentally small terms at the tip, in agreement with our numerical data.
