The paper studies factorization of the quadratic pencil of operators \(L(\lambda)=\lambda^ 2A+\lambda B+C\), where A,B,C are bounded operators in a given Hilbert space. It is shown that \[ L(\lambda)=(\lambda I- z^*_ 1)A(\lambda I-z_ 2) \] for certain operators \(z_ 1\) and \(z_ 2\).
