The author carries out E. Cartan's reduction procedure to get a complete system of equiaffine invariants for hypersurfaces. Using infinitesimal actions he obtains a metric and a cubic form, called the Pick form. These invariants determine the structure form of the moving frame and hence the hypersurface up to an affine motion. The considerations are local and restricted by the assumption that a certain symmetric matrix is positive definite.
