The author studies the optimality problem with regard to efficiency for the following numerical quadrature algorithms: trapezoid quadrature, Simpson quadrature, Newton-Cotes quadrature, composite Newton-Cotes quadratures, Gaussian quadrature, composite Gaussian quadrature and Gauss-Christoffel type quadrature. The author, also, investigates the concordance between the efficiency criteria and the complexity criteria.
