Known theorems are combined to relate the rational cohomology of Lie groups and finite loop spaces. For example, if x is a finite loop space and rank \(\pi\) \({}_ 3(X)\leq 1\), then \(X_ 0\simeq G_ 0\) where G is a Lie group. The results are not new but the proof of the main theorem is efficient, following work of Aguadé. Elsewhere references are inadequate or inappropriate to the point that proofs appear incorrect; but the theorems are true.
