This paper considers the adaptive generation of grids in one and three dimensions using Poisson's equation with a source term depending on the first derivative of a function supplied a priori and also a weighted combination of first and second derivatives. Boundaries, orthogonality and interaction with a solution are not considered. Examples are given.
