Heating of materials by a pulse of transmitted radiation, especially laser radiation, is often used in various thermal technologies. Algorithms for iterative computer calculations of accurate temperature- time relations are needed for optimization of such technologies with the smallest possible expenditure of computer time. This paper describes one such algorithm. It implements the classical method of separation of variables on the basis of an effective solution of a trancendental equation constructed to describe the processes. With an equal amount of computations, the algorithm provides a higher accuracy than do the difference methods.
