A population dynamics model covering quite general interactions (symbiosis, simple competition, predator-prey relations) between a finite number of biological species is studied in the context of existence, boundedness and local stability of the solutions of the corresponding system of first order partial differential equations. Special assumptions are introduced for birth, mortality and maternity rates for the separate species. The paper generalizes some of the author's earlier results [see Math. Modelling 5, 117-128 (1984; Zbl 0566.92019)].
