The authors use the L-order (L a slowly increasing function) of an entire function which is closely related to the proximate order. They define entire functions of L-bounded index and derive results concerning L-order and L-type of an entire function of L-bounded index. For the classical treatment of the index comp. e.g. [\textit{B. Lepson}, Entire functions and related parts of analysis, La Jolla, Calif. 1966, Proc.
