The following theorem is proved: If a real rational function \(r_ 0\in R^ m_ n(C)\) is a local best approximation to \(f_ c=cf+(1-c)r_ 0;\) \(c\geq 0\), then \(r_ 0\) is a global best approximation to the continuous real function f from Re \(R^ m_ n(C)\).
