In order to meet the practical need such as medical sciences, by using tensor product splines, the authors present an algorithm to construct a smooth surface from planar contours. Both open and close surfaces are considered. A nonlinear transformation which is used to construct smooth closed surfaces is discussed. At last, several applications are given.
