    The author presents a nice review on parallel architectures currently available. He also discusses the comparison of real performance of a real application on a parallel machine and on a CRAY. Algorithmic applications on a parallel machine are derived directly from algorithms designed for serial machines. The idea of parallel hardware - the connection machine can lead to discovery of new mathematical algorithms was also indicated.
