On an application of the work of D. E. Knuth to semigroups (Q1107502)

The article proposes the use of D. E. Knuth's typesetting program \TeX\ to authors of Semigroup Forum. A macro (i.e. a \TeX\ subroutine) is explicity described which will produce the exact uniform format prescribed by the editors of Semigroup Forum and suitable for immediate photoduplication by the publisher. The macro is written for use in plain \TeX. It has been tested and tried by a number of authors. The entire issue 2 of Volume 38(1989) is printed in \TeX\ with this macro. The compatibility with other variants of \TeX, however, has not been tested; this kind of compatibility is certainly desirable for the user of LA\TeX\ or AMS\TeX.
