The basic Schwarz alternating procedure is considered for the solution of a model problem consisting of the Poisson equation with Dirichlet conditions on an L-shaped boundary. Error estimates for the approximate solution are derived and they are found to be the same for an asynchronous parallel version of the algorithm.
