A note on Oden's constitutive variational principle (Q1109603)

A remark on some misleading points in connection with Oden's constitutive variational principle [\textit{J.T. Oden}, Energy methods in finite element analysis, 1-31 (1979; Zbl 0414.73003)] is given in this paper. According to Oden's idea, two other constitutive variational principles, which are complementary to each other, are developed. An example is performed to demonstrate the applicability of the constitutive variational principles.
