Real 2-blocks of characters of finite groups (Q1109883)

Let G be a finite group, and B a p-block of complex irreducible characters of G, for some prime divisor p of \(| G|\). B is called real if it contains the complex conjugate of each of its members. The author develops a theory of extended defect groups for real 2-blocks and obtains some results on the number of such blocks. An application to finite groups of Lie type is indicated.
