This short note gives an elegant and transparent proof in the \(C^{\infty}\) case of the famous ``Brown-Sard theorem'' on regular values of differentiable mappings. The proof consists of, first, for the case of functions \(X\to R\) and then later, by the splitting argument, we reduce the case of mappings \(X\to {\mathbb{R}}^ p\) to the case \(X\to {\mathbb{R}}^{p-1}\).
