On a paper of Zarrow (Q1110677)

The purpose of this paper is to show that an example of a non-classical Schottky group given by \textit{R. Zarrow} [Duke Math. J. 42, 717-724 (1975; Zbl 0355.30021)] is in fact classical. Here non-classical means that the curves used in the construction cannot be taken to be circles. He also proves a criterion that a 2-generator Schottky group be classical and explains where the difficulty in Zarrow's paper lies. He also shows that a certain class of free products, which could be expected to be non- classical Schottky groups are neither classical nor non-classical Schottky groups.
