A new method is introduced for one-sided approximation of functions by trigonometric polynomials. With the help of this method direct and converse theorems of the theory of one-sided approximation of functions in \(L_ p\), for \(0<p<\infty\), are analysed, and new estimates are deduced for the order of the local one-sided approximation.
