The authors investigate the possibility of chaotic behaviour in catalytic reaction represented by Airs equation. Their starting equations have been earlier investigated by Cohen and Rosenblat. Using Melnikov's method they show that the flickering phenomenon in catalytic equations of Airs show chaotic behaviour for a variety of choices of nonlinear functions in the equations.
